Carolyn Cooper

BSocSc, LL.B
Director

Carolyn was appointed a Director of Attewell Clews & Cooper in April 2017 and specialises in property and commercial law. She regularly advises clients on buying and selling businesses, on residential and commercial property matters, and life planning including trusts and wills.

Carolyn graduated from the University of Waikato in 2003 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Social Sciences majoring in Psychology. She began her legal career in Christchurch specialising in commercial, civil and trust litigation for a large national law firm. Travel beckoned for Carolyn and she headed to London where she worked for an international law firm advising on risk and compliance issues and then later for the Treasury Solicitor’s Department (now called the Goverment Legal Department), advising HM Attorney General on charity and estate litigation. In 2010 Carolyn returned to New Zealand and practised in Rotorua before joining Attewell Clews & Cooper in 2012.

Now, happily settled with her family in Whakatane, Carolyn focuses on helping individuals, families and local businesses with their legal needs.  With her background in litigation, Carolyn is thorough and vigilant and when conflicts do arise, she offers commerically realistic and practical solutions.

“I aim to record agreements in the clearest terms to minimise the risk of dispute” says Carolyn.

Whether you’re investing in business, buying or selling your home, or looking to protect your assets for future generations, Carolyn understands that an underlying motivating factor is likely to be family.  Family is of utmost importance to Carolyn too. She has two young children and enjoys getting involved in their schooling and sporting activities.  Carolyn’s personal and friendly manner works with our clients to get the best out of all situations.
